NEWBEAT Debuts with Bold Full-Length Album 'RAW AND RAD'
In a move that sets them apart from the pack, rookie K-pop boy group NEWBEAT has made their official debut with a full-length album—RAW AND RAD—breaking away from the industry norm of starting with a mini-album. Released on March 24, 2025, the 11-track project is a fearless introduction to the group’s identity, artistry, and message to global audiences.
“Debuting with a full-length album was both exciting and nerve-wracking, but it really allowed us to show all sides of who we are as NEWBEAT,” shared member Park Minseok. “Every track tells a different part of our story.”
A Raw, Honest, and Bold Sound
RAW AND RAD includes the pre-release singles “JeLLo (Sleepers)” and “HICCUPS,” which offered early glimpses into the group’s duality—playful yet pensive, experimental yet melodic. The album expands that range with seven new tracks, an intro and outro, and a bonus CD-only song.
The title track “Flip the Coin” is a genre-bending anthem that explores duality and perspective. Inspired by Shakespeare’s Macbeth, it flips expectations with the lyric: “Fair is foul, and foul is fair.” It’s a bold statement from a group not afraid to challenge the rules.
Other standout moments include “F.L.Y (Fuing Lovely, Lonely Youth)”**, a coming-of-age anthem produced by LIM HYUNSIK of BTOB. The track dives deep into the beauty and loneliness of growing up—one of the album’s recurring themes.
NEWBEAT member Jeon Yeoyeojeong delivers a heartfelt solo with “Wonder,” a dreamy, emotional story of prom-night feelings and unspoken love.
“Recording ‘Wonder’ was a really special experience for me,” said Jeon. “I hope listeners feel the same butterflies I did while singing it.”
A Performance to Match
To mark their debut, NEWBEAT appeared live on Mnet at 8 PM KST on release day, performing a high-energy set featuring Flip the Coin, JeLLo, HICCUPS, and F.L.Y. From HinLOVE to NEWBEAT
Under Beat Interactive, NEWBEAT is a seven-member boy group made up of Park Minseok, Hong Minsung, Jeon Yeoyeojeong, Choi Seohyun, Kim Taeyang, Jo Yunhu, and Kim Riwoo. Formerly known as HinLOVE, the members were already making waves pre-debut—performing in A.C.E’s music videos, dancing at KCON LA 2024, and busking across the U.S. on their HIGH&LOW Donuts tour.
